Xoda supports two different suspension calculation methods depending on your subscription type:
- Standard Suspension Logic (Free Version)
- Suspension Pro Rata Logic (Paid Feature)
This article explains how each option works and how suspension periods may affect member billing.
In the free version of Xoda, suspension handling follows a simplified process.
When a member is placed on suspension:
- Scheduled payments that fall within the suspension period are skipped.
- No pro rata calculations are performed.
- No additional fees or credits are automatically applied.
This means the system does not calculate differences when:
- Suspension dates do not align with billing cycle dates.
- Only part of a billing cycle is suspended.
EXAMPLE
If a member is billed weekly every Monday but suspends mid-week:
- The payment scheduled during the suspension period is skipped.
- No partial adjustment is calculated.
This setup is ideal for businesses that prefer a simpler suspension workflow.
The Suspension Pro Rata feature is available for businesses
on a paid Xoda subscription.
This feature automatically calculates billing adjustments when suspension
periods do not perfectly align with payment cycles.
HOW PRO RATA CALCULATIONS WORK
| Plan Type | Formula |
|---|---|
| Weekly Plan | Weekly Price ÷ 7 |
| Fortnightly Plan | Fortnightly Price ÷ 14 |
| Monthly Plan | Monthly Price × 12 ÷ 365 |
HOW ADJUSTMENTS ARE CALCULATED
During a suspension period, Xoda calculates:
- How many days the business owes the member.
- How many days the member still owes the business.
The system then determines the final difference and automatically applies
it to the member’s first payment after suspension.
Depending on the calculation:
- A credit may be deducted from the next payment, or
- An additional amount may be added to the next scheduled payment.
EXAMPLE SCENARIO
A member on a weekly membership suspends halfway through their billing cycle.
Using the daily rate:
- Xoda calculates unused days before suspension.
- Xoda calculates remaining days after suspension.
- The final balance adjustment is automatically applied when billing resumes.
